What to do - on the other side of the world?
Hi all,
I'm PMs newbie and have only recently started to get my hands on some Silver. I'm in NZ and it seems quite difficult and expensive to buy SAE and Maples etc. over here. There are no established dealers in NZ (as far as I know) and only 1 or 2 guys dealing online, which I presume are individuals, and they charge massive premiums. The cheapest I got away with so far is $32 NZD per oz ($25 USD) at a spot of around $17.70 USD. There is the NZ mint where you can buy NZ Silver Ferns and they are around spot + 18%. At least it cheaper than the SAE, Maples etc. Are there any Aussie or Kiwis on here that can help with some info? What about US dealers that ship Internationally, I know most of them don't? I find the discussions and insights on here very informative and have learned a lot in a very short time. Thanks everybody, hope to be around more regularly from now on..... |

yes try those two guys. Both have done what you want. I have been wondering if I should do something like this for kiwi pm buyers and send things across the "dutch".
You might like to take a look at this guy: www.shellhutchocoins.com.au I think he is on par or just a bit over Perth Mint prices. I think it worked out about the same with shipping from Hutcho's as it would to go to the mint and pay their high %. I used him a couple of times and he is prompt with delivery. Otherwise if you have a spare USD $7K or $8K you can get some SAE's or Maples ex US. Aussie sent me some details but I lost them. cheers |

Thanks Olmstein and Glass....
Glass, I checked out the link and it still seem very expensive, with SAEs ranging from $33-$36 AUD each, (depending on the year) plus shipping. Is this just our lot living down under? I have seen some of the posters on here complain when the price is more than $2 over spot at the US dealers.....suddenly $2 doesn't seem to bad to me. |

yeah I used him for bullion rather than coins which I found was within range. I think if you are after SAE's your best bet is to try and source from the states some how.
Bcause most big US dealers will not ship outside North America I looked at getting a rental/forwarding mail box that would re-mail internationally. We looked at companies like this one: http://www.usa2me.com/site/default.aspx Or these guys: http://www.usabox.com/newrates.asp being down here it becomes marginal just about any avenue unless you are shipping something like a monster box. a group buy would be a handy option. |
